Illuminated Perforated Aluminum Panels: A Custom Fabrication Success Story

When a high-profile client envisioned a stunning illuminated wall made from perforated aluminum panels, they turned to us for help. Thanks to our extensive experience in custom fabrication, the designing architect, Song + Associates, entrusted Baron to bring their vision to life.

The Design Challenge

The project called for a 111-foot-long wall featuring illuminated panels with dynamic elements. At each end of the wall, monitors would display company logos, connected by electric or lightning-inspired imagery. This striking “electricity” would feature color-changing LEDs, while the rest of the wall would be illuminated by white LEDs.

The biggest challenge? Ensuring the LED colors didn’t blend together and stayed true to the intricate lighting design. To meet this challenge, we engineered a precise solution:

  1. Custom Welded Channels: We welded channels onto the back of the panels to outline the shape of the electricity, creating defined pathways for the LEDs.
  2. Unique Perforation Patterns: To enhance the visual effect, we fabricated panels with varying perforation sizes that followed the flow of the electric design. This added depth and dimension while ensuring optimal light diffusion.

The Final Result

The finished product exceeded expectations. The combination of the perforated aluminum panels, the color-changing LEDs, and meticulous craftsmanship created a visually stunning and highly functional installation. The client was thrilled, and the project stands as a testament to the power of collaboration and custom fabrication.
